CARD Bank launches its 54th branch in Matina

CARD Bank, Inc., a microfinance-oriented rural bank, opened its 54th branch in Matina, Davao City on December 6, 2013 to underline its social undertaking of poverty alleviation even to the non-bankable clients.

The branch, which officially opened Friday morning after a Holy Mass and ribbon cutting ceremony, is the second branch of CARD Bank in Davao City. The other one started its operation since 2007 in Magallanes St. catering Bankerohan, Agdao, Almendras and Bajada. With this expansion, the bank will serve another 2,930 transitioned clients in the areas of Matina and nearby municipalities.

Banking services such as loans and savings are being offered by CARD Bank while the other services such as insurance, health, client training and education, marketing of clients’ products, and other social development programs are being outsourced by CARD Bank from other member institutions of CARD MRI.

Right after the opening ceremonies, clients applied to become savers of the bank. Children were among the first savers. Freebies such as umbrella, cap, pencil case and piggy bank were given to savers.

Ms. Dolores M. Torres, CARD Bank, Inc. President and CEO graced the event together with the CARD MRI Executive Committee Members, and Board Member Ruby Coma, a member of CARD Bank in Magallanes.
